Speed is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary today since it was released on June 10, 1994. It’s known as the movie that kicked off Sandy’s career and we thank director Jan De Bont for sticking with her even when the studio pressured him for another female actress. Can you imagine someone else playing Annie? I can’t.
HitFix has a great article with Sandra Bullock, Keanu Reeves and Jan De Bont looking back at Speed 20 years later:
There’s a bomb on a bus. Once the bus goes 50 miles an hour, the bomb is armed. If it drops below 50, it blows up. As movie premises go, this one is absolutely ridiculous, right? You’d have been forgiven for thinking so, at least, as few involved with Jan de Bont’s “Speed,” which was released by 20th Century Fox on June 10, 1994, could have anticipated its popularity. The film was a runaway hit, winning two Oscars and grossing over $350 million worldwide. Now, 20 years later, it’s a celebrated relic of an era before blockbuster filmmaking was so awash in digital wizardry, an era when practical movie magic sold the highest of concepts to the masses.

“An intruder was arrested on [her] property this morning,” Bullock’s rep confirms to PEOPLE exclusively. “She is unharmed and is fine.” An unidentified male in his early 30s allegedly broke into her home while she was inside, reports NBC News. He was arrested around 6:30 a.m. and police are investigating whether the intruder is a stalker. The investigation is ongoing, reports NBC.
Bad news! Apparently, someone broke into Sandy’s house today around 6:30 a.m while she was home. Good news is that Police was fast and arrested the person so he didn’t manage to get inside the house. Everything seems to be okay and no one got hurt. LA Times and TMZ reported the incident:
Police arrested a “hot prowler suspect” on the West Los Angeles property of actress Sandra Bullock on Sunday morning. The 39-year-old man was in the yard “checking out the house” when police arrived shortly after 6:30 a.m., according to Muria Vanegas of the Los Angeles Police Department. As of 9 a.m., he was in custody awaiting charges.
The man did not enter the house of the 49-year-old Oscar-winner, best known for such films as “Gravity,” “The Blind Side” and “Speed.” – LA Times
Sandra Bullock’s home was broken into early Sunday morning … and the actress was home. Law enforcement sources tell us they arrested a man early this morning for allegedly breaking into Bullock’s Los Angeles home around 6:30 a.m. We’re told Bullock was home … but she was not hurt.
It’s unclear if the man who broke in was attempting to burglarize the home or if it was a stalking case … but police are investigating. We reached out to a rep for Bullock … so far, no word back. – TMZ
Sandra Bullock attended the 2014 Spike TV’s Guys Choice Awards at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, California yersterday, June 07, 2014. She was there to recieve the “Decade of Hotness” award and her former co-stars Keanu Reeves (from Speed and The Lake House), Matthew McConaughey (from A Time to Kill) and Hugh Grant (from Two Weeks Notice) were there to present her with the award.
Thanks to EOnline, we can read fragments of her speech. The show will be aired on June 11, at 9 p.m. ET on Spike TV.
“I feel like I’m at my funeral. Decade of Hotness…My question was what decade? I have several under my belt. It should really be Decade of Hot Mess. That I can own and I do that well and I’m still convinced I’m up here because someone dropped out and they needed someone quickly and we know I’m home on Saturdays,” she quipped.
“I’d like to thank the Guys Choice Awards for this—the horns. How many people hold this up and say, ‘I’m so horny!’ I’d like to thank you for this honor. This is an amazing slingshot for a 49-year-old. I’d like to thank every hairstylist and makeup artist for creating the illusion because I didn’t look like this a couple hours ago…I’m just one of the luckiest girls I know and three of the people I’m just so crazy about are right next to me.”
I’ve added 100+ HQ pictures of her at the show. Keep checking back for more:
For your information, she was wearing a pink Roland Mouret dress and black Saint Laurent shoes.

Sandra Bullock was spotted leaving her son’s school yesterday, June 4 and tuesday, June 3:
Contact Music – Gravity has won a Golden Trailer award for the Trailer of the Year. The sci-fi film was voted the best trailer out a wide variety of films nominated for the various Golden Trailer awards. Gravity’s trailer also won the award for Best Thriller Trailer.
The trailer, entitled Detached, depicts Sandra Bullock and George floating through space, before Bullock crucially loses hold of a life line whilst on a mission outside the space station. The trailer, much like the film, appears to be wonderfully simplistic with the action taking place entirely in space. However, it’s certainly a breath-taking trailer with the drama evidently playing out between Sandra Bullock’s and George Clooney’s characters.
The Golden Trailer Awards took place on Friday (30th May) and Gravity won the top award. Other previous winners of the Trailer of the Year award include Star Trek, The Dark Knight Rises and The Social Network.
Other winners of this year’s awards include Godzilla for Summer Blockbuster, Dallas Buyers Club for Best Independent, and Maleficent for Best Fantasy Adventure. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Frozen also won awards, respectively, for Best Action trailer and Best Animation/Family Film trailer.
The Golden Trailer Awards have been awarding and honouring feature film and documentary trailers since 1999. The possible awards are numerous and such categories include Trashiest Trailer, Most Original and Best Summer 2014 Blockbuster Trailer. The trailers considered for awards this year were created from March 8th 2013 to April 11th 2014, according to USA Today.
Latest issue of People Magazine has an interview with Sandy talking about Warren Easton. They also have this adorable picture of her with some gaduates, take a look:
Sandra Bullock is tired of hearing only bad news.
“No one ever talks about the good,” she says. “If you are ever wondering about how good life is and can be, you can come to Warren Easton.”
The actress, 49, adopted the public charter high school in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005.
Bullock’s donations have helped rebuild the historic campus, fund scholarships for graduates, pay for athletic equipment and band uniforms and open a health clinic.
“These kids have been working a couple of jobs, some come from hard places, but every time they walk under that roof, they know they’re cared for,” she says. “They’re admired for what they can bring to the table.”
As principal Alexina Medley puts it, “When you come to Easton, you become part of the family.”
