Contact Music – Gravity has won a Golden Trailer award for the Trailer of the Year. The sci-fi film was voted the best trailer out a wide variety of films nominated for the various Golden Trailer awards. Gravity’s trailer also won the award for Best Thriller Trailer.
The trailer, entitled Detached, depicts Sandra Bullock and George floating through space, before Bullock crucially loses hold of a life line whilst on a mission outside the space station. The trailer, much like the film, appears to be wonderfully simplistic with the action taking place entirely in space. However, it’s certainly a breath-taking trailer with the drama evidently playing out between Sandra Bullock’s and George Clooney’s characters.
The Golden Trailer Awards took place on Friday (30th May) and Gravity won the top award. Other previous winners of the Trailer of the Year award include Star Trek, The Dark Knight Rises and The Social Network.
Other winners of this year’s awards include Godzilla for Summer Blockbuster, Dallas Buyers Club for Best Independent, and Maleficent for Best Fantasy Adventure. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Frozen also won awards, respectively, for Best Action trailer and Best Animation/Family Film trailer.
The Golden Trailer Awards have been awarding and honouring feature film and documentary trailers since 1999. The possible awards are numerous and such categories include Trashiest Trailer, Most Original and Best Summer 2014 Blockbuster Trailer. The trailers considered for awards this year were created from March 8th 2013 to April 11th 2014, according to USA Today.

Sandra Bullock and Alfonso Cuarón talked about Gravity on CBS This Morning. The show aired today on CBS and here’s the full interview:
The EE British Academy Film Awards took place today, February 16, at the Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden. Sandy was expected to attend, but she cancelled her appearenced. No official statement were released by her or her reps about the cancellation, so we don’t really know what happened. Anyway, Gravity was the biggest winner of the night, winning in 6 of the 11 categories it was nominated. Congratulations!
The movie was rewarded with Outstanding British Film, Original Film Music, Cinematography, Special Visual Effects and Sound awards. Also, Alfonso Cuaron won Best Director award and he thanked Sandy, saying that she was the heart of the film. Emmanuel Lubezki, winner in Cinematography, also thanked Sandy for giving this film a soul and a beautiful face.
Sandra Bullock talked to Brian Williams about Gravity, her career and personal life. Thanks to NBC website you can see the short interview she gave, plus Gravity behind the scenes:
Sandra Bullock attended 12th Annual VES Awards that took place yesterday, February 12, at The Bervely Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, CA. She was there to honor Alfonso Cuarón with the Visionary Award for his work in Gravity. Here our first pictures of the event:
Geavity has also won Outstanding Models in a Feature Motion Picture, Outstanding FX and Simulation Animation in a Live Action Feature Motion Picture, Outstanding Virtual Cinematography in a Live Action Feature Motion Picture, Outstanding Created Environment in a Live Action Feature Motion Picture, Outstanding Compositing in a Feature Motion Picture and Outstanding Visual Effects in a Visual Effects-Driven Feature Motion Picture awards. Congratulations!
Sandy and Alfonso Cuarón were interviewed by The Guardian and they talked about how they made Gravity. Also, I’ve updated the gallery with Gravity stills, posters and behind the scenes as I’ve added pictures of Sandy and Alfonso Photoshoot by Robert Ascroft.
The makers of Gravity won’t really come back down to Earth till the awards season is over, but even if the movie doesn’t win any Baftas or Academy Awards, there is a sense of triumph in their simply having got the film made. They can also console themselves with the wall-to-wall acclaim and the $700m-odd in worldwide box office, but it’s inarguable that, more than any other movie of the past year, Alfonso Cuarón’s space epic pushed back the frontiers of film-making – to the extent that most viewers couldn’t fathom how on earth (or elsewhere) the film was even made. What is easy to forget is that, initially, Cuarón and his team didn’t have the slightest idea how to make it either.
So, I don’t know what happened as PBS website and Charlie Rose Official Twitter Account set different dates for the show to air as I’ve explained at the last post, but I’ve found the full interview with Sandy and Alfonso online, so you can watch it now:
Huge thanks to Screen it Now!
Sandra Bullock and Gravity director Alfonso Cuarón will be on Charlie Rose Show to talk about Gravity. We have announced that the show would be aired yesterday, based on Charlie Rose Official Twitter account information, but according to PBS website it won’t be aired until February 7. We are very sorry about the wrong information, but we think they might have reschedule it for some reason since the original date was February 4. Anyway, you can see a clip of the interview from PBS website:
