Each year, the website Zillow takes a survey to determine which celebrities Americans would most like to call their neighbors. In 2010, Bullock, who won a Best Actress Oscar this year for her performance in “The Blind Side,” received 26 percent of the vote. Bullock also endured a widely-publicized split from her husband, Jesse James, after it was revealed he had had a number of indiscretions. The story may have gained Bullock more sympathy from females, 30 percent of which said they would enjoy living in the same neighborhood as her.

With two hit movies (The Proposal and The Blind Side) and an Oscar win, Bullock should have been sitting on top of the world. She is financially. With $56 million she’s the highest-earning actress. But a messy breakup with cheating husband Jesse James turned her into tabloid fodder. Bullock overcame adversity with news of an adoption and a public return at the MTV Movie Awards.

“Something tells me you all didn’t watch the film,” Sandra Bullock said as she accepted the Razzie Award as worst actress of 2009 for “All About Steve” at the Barnsdall Gallery Theater in Hollywood on Saturday night. “I thought no one went to see this film, but I know that there are more than 700 members here. That means that the majority of the 700 cast their vote, so that means 352 …?”

As she arrived on stage, she pulled a wagon filled with DVDs, noting, “We brought everybody in the audience a DVD of ‘All About Steve.’” She asked the audience members to watch it, rethink their decision and if they agree that she really wasn’t that bad, “I will come back next year. I will give back the Razzie.”

Showing good humor, Bullock accused members of voting for her just because she promised to attend.
“I said I would show up and then I miraculously won!” she said, adding that her victory is further proof in Hollywood that “all you have to do is show up and you get an award.”

“I brought the shooting script,” she added. “I’m willing to go through page by page, read the line the way I did it in the film and, if anyone wants to give me a line read of how I could’ve done it better…. We can do this till about 4 o’clock in the morning. Or you guys can just watch the movie and rethink your decision, and I’ll show up next year and we can go out for a drink afterward.” The audience cheered and applauded.

Bullock also took issue with her second Razzie win, which she shared with “All About Steve” costar Bradley Cooper as worst screen couple.

“Again, if you had seen the film, seen it with your eyes, it’s pretty much a film about a woman stalking a man,” she said. “That doesn’t really set up the premise for a loving couple. So giving us the worst couple award is kind of duh.”

Bullock almost didn’t show up because she had agreed to attend before she knew what date the ceremony was held. It turned out that she was busy Saturday night hosting “The Night Before,” a charity event to benefit the Motion Picture Television Fund Foundation. However, she broke away to fulfill her Razzie promise.

The Oscars are coming and I can’t stop reading the previews and I decided to post this Oscar Roundtable. It’s intersting to read what the critics have to say, let’s hope they’re right and Sandy wins that more than deserved Oscar:

3. In the Meryl Streep vs. Sandra Bullock Best Actress race, do you have a sense that a different actress might upset either of those two? Or do you think Sandra Bullock has it in the bag?

Wloszczyna: Gabby, Helen, Carey? I am just not feeling it although Mulligan is the only one with a teensy chance. What sentiment exists out there right now for one of those ladies to pull off a sideswipe? Sandra feels like a certainty to me.

Harris: I defer to sharper handicappers on this question. My sense from chatting with voters is that it’s very close between Bullock and Streep, and Sidibe and Mulligan are both getting support from people who feel like voting for a promising newcomer (which probably cancels out the possibility of either of them sneaking in to upset the two frontrunners).

Bona: Although both are highly admired, neither Carrie Mulligan nor Gabourey Sidibe has created the kind of overwhelming pop culture impact that is necessary for a newcomer to take home an Oscar. Helen Mirren is just along for the ride this time, the nomination indicating just how respected she is. From the time it opened, there had been rumblings that Julie & Julia was too slight a vehicle to provide Meryl Streep with her third Oscar. Then surprisingly, she, began winning critics’ award after critics’ award and with potential competitors pulling up short, Streep looked good for the win. But lo, suddenly, there appeared Sandra Bullock. Being named the country’s number one box office draw in the Exhibitors’ Poll; the prominence of several late season awards (Critics Choice, Golden Globe, SAG); a film which has turned into a sleeper box-office phenomenon – all signs point to this being Sandra Bullock’s year.

Hammond:I talk to lots of voters and am getting lots of support for Gaby and Carey. I think this thing is really being split up. Lions Gate’s owns survey shows Sandy and Gaby . Sony Classics thinks it could be Sandy and Carey. Big Sony is spending big to bring it home for Meryl. Warner Bros is happy people are voting for all of them and not just Meryl. They think that benefits Sandy. This one is really a nail biter.

Tapley: I think the writing was on the wall for Bullock as soon as The Blind Side landed a Best Picture nomination. The momentum is completely on her side while the Meryl camp has seemingly withered away.

McCue: If there was ever a category ripe for an upset, it’s this one. The fumes from the 2002 Adrien Brody Best Actor stunner for THE PIANIST are still in the air. He’s nominated for everything under the sun, and swoops in to take the Academy Award away from Jack Nicholson (ABOUT SCHMIDT) AND Daniel Day-Lewis (GANGS OF NEW YORK). They both “had it in the bag” too. Carey Mulligan is poised to do the same with a Best Actress win. It so feels like a “Brody” all over again. Always be on the lookout for what the BAFTA’s have to say this weekend. Yes, yes, I know Bullock (this year’s Julia Roberts) isn’t in the mix, but the British branch of the Academy have a funny way of making their presence known. Tilda Swinton’s BAFTA and subsequent shocking Best Supporting Oscar win, anyone?

Kennedy: I think Bullock has it in the bag. I don’t see a situation where they’ll steal votes from each other and allow someone else in. I think Streep is taken for granted and that most people assume she has more awards than she really does and that Bullock has campaigned perfectly. She’s been adorable, she’s been humble, she’s acted like she doesn’t deserve it without seeming indifferent. Plus, critics be damned, a lot of people liked her performance and her movie.

Sandra Bullock has news for anyone waiting to see her give an acceptance speech at the Academy Awards – don’t hold your breath!

“I’m so not winning an Oscar,” Bullock, who received her first-ever nomination, as best actress for The Blind Side, told reporters at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival Friday, where she received the American Riviera Award for her influence on film.

Bullock considers herself an expert oddsmaker for the annual awards show, so she has strong feelings about her own chance for victory. “Nine times out of ten I always pick who’s going to win,” the actress, 45, said. “And I already know who’s going to win. I’m not going to say, but nine times out of ten, I’m right.”

Bullock isn’t practicing false humility. After all, she’s already won a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award this year. She’s just not overanxious to snag the trophy. “I have to say, all the ladies in our category, we don’t care who wins,” she said. “Someone’s going to win and the rest of us will be really happy for whoever won. We’re just happy to be here. And we like the company we’re in.” Bullock admitted she has to push herself into enjoying the build-up to the Academy Awards. “It’s amazing how you are asked to hit the ground running the minute you hear the news,” she said. “It’s not like you can sit back and have bonbons and champagne.”

“I thought that’s what it was about,” she said. “I had it already. I said, ‘OK, where are the bonbons and champagne?’ No one brought me any. They just told me I had to work. So I’m like, ‘OK.’ ”
Everyday Tasks

“I’m so bad at taking in compliments or flattery,” she said. “I’m better taking in the bad than I am the good. So I’m trying very hard just to be present and enjoy the moments.”

She’s also embracing the everyday tasks at home which keep her grounded. “You go home and you have to pick up dog poop – and we have a two-legged dog,” she says. “To me, that’s not mundane, though. Life is tricky enough that I actually love and embrace the normal day-to-day rituals. You get up, you make your coffee, read your paper, you do the school run, you go do your things. I’m just lucky that I get to do them.”

Sandra Bullock wouldn’t reveal where she was on nomination day — “I like the privacy of our home bubble,” she said of her secret California hideaway — but was awakened by a phone call telling her she had snagged an acting nomination for “The Blind Side.” Despite her wins from SAG and the Golden Globes, she still didn’t think she would hear her name, so the night before it was her usual routine: cooking for her family, putting her kids to bed and then hitting the sack. “I’d always assumed that the road to Oscar was planned. I thought people chose projects that were considered ‘Oscar-worthy.’ No one wanted to make this film. I didn’t want to make this film for the better part of the year,” she said. “Everyone is as blindsided — can I say that? — as I am.” But as surprised as she was, Bullock said the most moving part of the morning was hearing that her movie got a best picture nomination. “That’s what makes me emotional. John Lee Hancock spent two years of his life on something that no one else saw. And now he’s been recognized!” She added: “I love that there’s 10 nominees. It doesn’t matter if they win, but I think it’s great that everyone gets their moment in the sun.” Bullock said she planned to talk her dad and sister and “enjoy some time with the people who loved me before I started doing all this.”
