Lots of rumors saying that Sandy would team up with Steve Carell for a movie based on The Abstinence Teacher novel were out yesterday but, according to E! Online, Sandy hasn’t decided about her next project and is not attached to The Abstinence Teacher:

A report claiming that Bullock has signed on for the flick is not true…

In fact, Bullock’s rep tells us she still hasn’t decided what her next project will be. (She will, however, be at Sunday’s Teen Choice Awards, where she is up for four surfboards.)

LOS ANGELES — Life can be hard for actresses in Hollywood. Good roles are few and far between, and their paychecks are usually smaller than their male co-stars’. It seems that no number of female-centric hits (like Mamma Mia and Sex and the City) can convince studios to treat the ladies better.

And if you’re a woman over 40, you might as well just play a grandma. The roles are even scarcer.

But last year Sandra Bullock bucked the trend in a big way. First her romantic comedy The Proposal grossed $320 million on an estimated budget of $40 million. That would be impressive enough, but then The Blind Side hit theaters five months later. Based on a true story about a white family that took in an African-American football prodigy, the film earned an amazing $310 million at the box office on an estimated budget of only $30 million.

Bullock cut her usual fee to star in the movie and reaped a large share of the film’s profits in return. Between her earnings on The Proposal and The Blind Side, Sandra Bullock earned $56 million between June 2009 and June 2010, tops among Hollywood’s leading ladies. Add in a messy divorce that had her on the front of tabloids almost every week, the adoption of a baby that she will now raise on her own and her first Oscar, and Bullock had one hell of a year. All of that helped land her eighth on our annual Celebrity 100 list.

To figure out actresses’ earnings we talked to agents, managers, producers and lawyers to determine what the stars earned as upfront pay on movies they are currently shooting, as well as back-end pay earned after a movie hit theaters. We also looked at any money actresses might have earned from perfume and clothing lines and from ad campaigns.

According to The Playlist, Sandra Bullock and Steve Carell are attached to a new project based on the novel The Abstinence Teacher.

Just five months after the indie-smash success of the summer 2006 Fox Searchlight film, “Little Miss Sunshine” — the picture was nominated for four Oscars including Best Picture and won two — directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris announced their potential follow-up project, a bigscreen adaptation of Tom Perrotta’s sex-ed novel “The Abstinence Teacher.” Published in 2007, the novel revolves around a divorced sex ed teacher in middle America who is at odds with the town’s more conservative groups. At the same time, she finds herself falling for her daughter’s born-again soccer coach.

Fast forward four years later to 2010 and the project obviously still hasn’t surfaced and one presumes part of the problem was the film was a Warner Independent Pictures project and that indie division shuttered in 2008 (and/or it’s just one of those projects that has been gestating for a long time).

But it appears the film is coming back to life. In the pages of this week’s Production Weekly, the project is listed once more with the same ‘Sunshine’ producers (Albert Berger, Ron Yerxa, Polly Johnsen) and more importantly, two marquee actors attached in Sandra Bullock and Steve Carell.

That’s obviously more than enough star wattage to revive this seemingly dormant film, though it’s still apparently in development. The author Perrotta, who also co-adapted his own novel “Little Children” was the original screenwriter attached back in 2006 is still listed as the writer as well (Perrota also wrote the novel, “Election” which Alexander Payne adapted for the screen in 1999; and the ‘Sunshine’ producers also shepherded it and ‘Children’; there’s a longtime working relationship here). Here’s the PWeekly synopsis:

Stonewood Heights is the perfect place to raise kids. It’s got the proverbial good schools, solid values and a healthy real estate market. It’s the kind of place where parents are involved in their children’s lives, where no opportunity for enrichment goes unexplored. Ruth Ramsey (Bullock we presume) is the human sexuality teacher at the local high school. She believes that “pleasure is good, shame is bad, and knowledge is power.” Ruth’s younger daughter’s soccer coach is Tim Mason (again, we presume Carell), a former stoner and rocker whose response to hitting rock bottom was to reach out and be saved. Tim belongs to The Tabernacle, an evangelical Christian church that doesn’t approve of Ruth’s style of teaching. And Ruth in turn doesn’t applaud The Tabernacle’s mission to take its message outside its doors. Adversaries in a small-town culture war, Ruth and Tim instinctively mistrust each other. But when a controversy on the soccer field pushes the two of them to actually talk to each other, they are forced to take each other at something other than face value.

I don’t know if you remember, but few days ago I’ve posted a video with Sandy asking people to save the Gulf. I’ve decided to remove the video since Sandy has removed her participation in PSA according to ThinkProgress.Org:

Academy Award-winning actress and New Orleans resident Sandra Bullock has severed her involvement in a campaign to call attention to the BP spill, after learning from ThinkProgress that it was a greenwashing effort by the oil industry. Bullock is prominently featured in the Restore the Gulf campaign, run by Women of the Storm and sponsored by America’s Wetland Foundation.

In an online video with other major celebrities, Bullock called for American people to “speak up” and “sign the petition” for Congress and President Obama at the campaign website, which demands that “a plan to restore America’s Gulf be fully funded and implemented for me and future generations.” The YouTube video makes her the face of the campaign:

Unbeknownst to Bullock, America’s Wetland Foundation is a front group established by Shell Oil in 2002 and funded by the American Petroleum Institute, BP, and a host of other oil companies. Women of the Storm was established after Hurricane Katrina by Anne Milling, the wife of America’s Wetland chairman R. King Milling, who is part of Gov. Bobby Jindal’s (R-LA) team to lift the offshore drilling moratorium. This greenwashing campaign, first uncovered by’s Brendan Demelle, subtly includes mentions of “safe domestic energy” and oil industry factoids, while implying that American taxpayers, not the unmentioned oil industry, should pay for restoring the region BP has poisoned.

Sandra Bullock’s publicist tells ThinkProgress the actress was never informed of the campaign’s big oil ties. In a statement issued to ThinkProgress, Bullock’s representatives indicated they would immediately ask “for her participation in the PSA be removed until the facts can be determined”:

Ms. Bullock was originally contacted through her attorney to be a part of the PSA in order to promote awareness of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. At no time was she made aware that any organization, oil company or otherwise had influence over Women of the Storm or its message. We have immediately asked for her participation in the PSA be removed until the facts can be determined. Her commitment to the Gulf region has been apparent for many years and she will continue to pursue opportunities that will bring awareness and support to the plight of the Gulf region.

With its deep pockets, BP’s focus should be on supplying necessary funds to restore the Gulf region, not secretly supporting greenwashing campaigns to redirect blame. The people of the Gulf of Mexico don’t need the toxic influence of the oil industry, and the American people don’t need its toxic pollution.

Well, today is already July 26 in some countries (including mine) so I’ve decided to leave my simple tribute to this woman that have been making my days happier for more than 12 years now.

As a fan for more than 12 years now, all I have to say is that I am so proud of you and of all you’ve accomplished this past year: getting an Oscar, ruling the box office, adopting an adorable baby and everything. All of this just makes me the proudest fan ever and it makes me so happy because I know you deserve all those good things and I know you had some really bad things in your way but you went through all with class and grace and that makes me even prouder because I know you’re this incredible, strong, amazing woman and I just wish I could be half like you someday, you inspire me to be a better person.

Anyway, I just wanna wish you an incredible day with your baby boy and your beloved ones because you deserve to have a perfect and happy day and I really wish you all the best things in the world! You inspire me every single day of my life and I just can’t help loving you more and more. Have an incredible day!

x Love, Susu.
